Setup Guide

Telegram Application

To use the SGTrains Spotters Bot, you will need to have an existing Telegram account, as well as the Telegram application.

Click the subscribe button below on your mobile device browser and it will redirect you to the chat window for the chatbot.

Continue the flow to subscribe to the chatbot and register for a nickname.

Use this to submit the train you took or seen on service.

Firstly, trigger the chatbot by sending it a message, and then type 1 when presented the main menu and follow the flow of the chatbot.

Delete Your Spotting

Have you accidentally submitted an invalid spotting? You can delete it within two hours of submission.

Firstly, copy the spotting ID of your spotting by tapping on the clipboard icon beside the spotting ID.

Then, trigger the chatbot by sending it a message, and then type 2 when the main menu is presented and follow the flow of the chatbot.

Report Inaccurate Spotting

Seen a spotting that is inaccurate on the Running Status list? Here's how you can raise it to the moderators.

Firstly, copy the spotting ID of the inaccurate spotting by tapping on the clipboard icon beside the spotting ID.

Then, trigger the chatbot flow by sending it a message, and then type 3 when the main menu is presented and follow the flow of the chatbot.

Report Decommissioned Trains

Spotted a decommissioned train? Here's how you can report it to us.

Trigger the chatbot by sending it a message. Then, when presented the main menu, type 4 for NSEWL trains or 5 for BPLRT trains into the chat box and follow the flow of the chatbot.

Submit Entries for Tracking Lists

You may submit entries for the categories available in the tracking list.

From the main menu, type the appropriate option by keying in the number, and then follow the flow of the chatbot.

Refurbishment of Alstom Metropolis C751A

Trigger the chatbot by sending it a message. Then, when presented the main menu, type 11 into the chat box and follow the flow of the chatbot.

 Not Refurbished  Train is not refurbished.
 Suspected Upgrading*  Train is suspected to be undergoing mid life upgrade programme.

You can receive notifications directly from the SGTrains Spotters Bot on some of the developments on the train network.

As such, the information may not be entirely accurate. Please refer to the terms and conditions for more information.

Message Moderators

You can use the message moderator function if you need to communicate to the Moderation Team, such as reporting of false spottings on the tracking lists and submitting evidence of spottings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my User ID shown instead of my Nickname?

The nickname is only used for moderation purposes.

To protect your privacy when you submit your spottings, the system will automatically generate an 8-digit User ID.

Should you happen to figure out your own User ID, please do not share it with others.

Why is the Changi Airport Extension identified as 'CGL'?

We came to the conclusion for the spotting system to use 'CGL', based on the station code.

The 'CGL' is identified not as an acronym in the spotting system, but as an abbreviation (the shortened form) for the Changi Airport Extension.

Are the lists on SGTrains Spotters moderated?

Yes, we have a group of moderators that monitor the list on a daily basis. If you do spot an inaccurate spotting on the list, you can raise it to the moderators via the chatbot.

Users who submit false spottings are subject to moderation, and repeated offenders will be banned. Moderation is also monitored on a case-by-case basis.

I am asked to submit evidence for my spotting. What kind of evidence do you accept?

We accept submissions with the train car number shown clearly in the photo or video evidence.

As we want to ensure the reliability of our system, we may reject evidence of screenshots from other channels such as Telegram chat groups and Discord servers.
